Tips and Tricks To Get You Through The Summer Party Season
They say that you ought to experience attending a music festival even once in your life. It’s where you get to experience a gathering of people who love different music genres. And there’s usually a lineup of amazing foods and crazy crowds.
A festival is usually insanely fun but sometimes, unforeseen events could happen. Don’t get caught in a bind just because you weren’t prepared. The best thing you can do is cover all possibilities to avoid putting a damper on your weekend experience.
Here are 8 festival hacks to help you get that summer festival party vibe all weekend-long:
Hydration is key to keeping your energy levels up when you’re at a multi-day festival. Being out in the sunshine, drinking alcohol, dancing and sweating can all contribute to dehydration. But we all know that bottled water is outrageously expensive, so we recommend either taking a refillable bottle and asking food vendors to fill you up, or finding a tap on the festival site.
TAKE A HELIUM BALLOON
Picture this. It’s way past midnight. You’ve had an epic day full of dancing, drinking and meeting new friends. All you want to do is get to your tent and pass out, but you can’t find it because it’s dark and you’ve been hanging out in a new part of the campsite with your awesome new mates. It’s dark and there are thousands of tents that look the same, what do you do? Look for the one with the helium balloons tied outside! Mark your campsite and you’ll avoid wandering around for hours. A helium balloon is perfect for tying to a tent so you can easily find it in the dark, or when you’re completely drunk!
SET UP CAMP FACING NORTH OR SOUTH
If you want to avoid a blazing hot tent in the morning, waking up to the sun in your face at 5AM, make sure you’ve not pitched it facing East. To make extra sure you’ll get the sleep you need to recover from the night before, pop a reflective emergency blanket on the side of your tent to stay cool.
USE AIRTIGHT FOOD CONTAINERS
Everyone’s first instinct when taking food to a festival is to place it in a cool-box. Whilst this works, once the water melts, you’ll end up with soggy food. Placing perishables in plastic tupperware to keep them airtight AND cool will have you set for a fryup throughout the weekend.
AIRPLANE MODE CAN SAVE YOUR PHONE BATTERY
Unless you really need to make a call, or stay in touch with people, keep your phone in airplane mode. You can still take photos and save them to update social media at regular intervals when you have wifi (or data). Your phone also charges much, much quicker in airplane mode.
HEAD TORCHES ARE A MUST
You do not have enough hands to get into your tent safely in the dark. It is difficult with a torch in one hand to unzip a tent and climb in with one hand. Use a head torch and then you’ve got both hands free to navigate!
HAVE A RAINY DAY PLAN
We know, no one wants to think about rain at a festival, but if you’re going to one in the UK, chances are it will pour down at some point! Having cards against humanity stashed in your tent will help you while away a few hours as you wait for the rain to stop. Choose multi-player games that you can use to make friends. Pair with a bottle of rum and you’ll be the life and soul of the campsite.
MAKE YOUR OWN PILLOW
If you’re taking public transport and have limited luggage room, don’t be the person who chooses a pillow over clean underwear. Just take a pillowcase and stuff it with clothes once you get into your tent. You’ll have a great night sleep, and you won’t be bogged down with things on your journey to and from the festival.
